About Us

Our Journey

Coastal Acres LLC is a cattle ranch with approximately 200 head of beef cattle located east of Atlanta and west of Augusta. Donald Adams started in cattle very young, winning the Southeastern District Beef Cattle Proficiency Award at the national convention for FFA and recently the Cattleman of the Year from the Little River Cattleman’s Association. Unfortunately, in 2019, he had a 1000 lb. bale of hay fall from a tractor while putting hay in a wagon and was paralyzed from the neck down. Today he is walking with Canes and continuing to take care of his cattle with the help of a team of family, friends, and Skippy the cattle dog. His philosophy is: “The cattle eat before we do,” and he takes pride in the care of our cattle. Let me meat your needs.

Our Practices

Our Cows are happy cows! No growth hormones, steroids, or other measures to enhance growth. Our cattle eat before we do. We start with hay production, making sure the soil is properly prepared, cutting at the proper time, and producing nutritionally good hay for the cows and calves. We feed more to the cows within 3 months of calving and after to ensure mom and calf meet their nutritional needs. We practice rotational grazing and provide winter grazing of rye and ryegrass. We also have several ponds for them to cool off in. It doesn’t get any better than this. Our cows are happy cows! We have continually purchased bulls that have the marbling grade to produce the best-tasting beef possible. We use natural feed that is locally grown and mixed, including corn and peanut pellets for the calves.

We never use any growth hormone, steroids, or other measures to enhance their growth. Our cattle are naturally grown with love. Grocery stores have been known for adding solutions to their product to increase weight and flavor.

Like your ground beef a bright red? You can thank carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, a large percentage of nitrogen, and the FDA. This three-gas mixture helps to keep the red look desired by, well, everyone. And while it’s completely safe to eat, it does mess with our perception of the concept of freshness. Also, hamburger and meat cuts may come from multiple cows, not just one. Our product is all-natural and has actual weight, not what you would find at your average grocery store. Our cattle meet the criteria for Certified Angus Beef standards.

The certified beef must meet strict quality standards, and less than 8% of all beef earns the brand’s premium name. To qualify as Certified Angus Beef, meat has to come from cattle that are certified on paper to have specific genetic qualities, and their bodies must be 51% or more solid black, hence the term “Black Angus.”
